The 2IC was designed on the back of the huge success of its predecessor the MVP. In essence the formula was quite simple. We wanted to develop a shape that had all the elements that work so well with the MVP and mesh that into a more streamlined package to suit conditions over 3 feet. The MVP certainly holds its own when conditions get a bit bigger but it is in its prime when the range is 2-4 feet.

The big brother of the Blackbird. The Big Bird is a high volume board that still carries an element of performance. Sizes range from 6’4”-7’6”. Great board for entry level surfers or Mal riders looking to compliment their standard board with something more suitable to beachbreaks or conditions that are more hollow.

Performance hybrid that suits a wide variety of conditions
If you need a board that makes the sloppy summer conditions FUN then this is the model for you. The best part is this board will work great in better waves also. The outline is perfect to set up as a thruster or quad which allows an abundance of fin configurations and will benefit from a bigger fin template in more powerful waves.

Small wave fun…… Beginner to experienced
Overall the Blunt is an easy board to ride and sits somewhere between a performance shortboard and a fish profile. Best suited to conditions up to 3 foot the Blunt can also benefit from a larger fin template if you are chasing more drive.

The Machete is what a lot of intermediate surfers are using
The Machete gets up and moving extremely quick with a slightly lower entry rocker. Having the width toned down a bit in the tail will allow you to commit to more powerful turns without skipping a beat.

This model is designed for those who want a nine footer that performs dynamically in all conditions. The basic formula is a progressive rocker that is married up with lower rails and a narrower profile.

The Traditional Mal is is an all rounder aimed at delivering function in all conditions.
The mid rocker and a slight concave in the nose will allow you to get up on the front section with ease and the subtle tail lift combined with a sharper rail edge will allow you to flow through turns off the tail.

When we were in design mode for some new models recently we
Functionality for a broad range of surfers and conditions was the basis of what we set out to achieve. The MIDi is a model that has a relatively high amount of volume yet offers a huge amount of performance. Sizes can range between 7′ and 8’6”. The mid tail rocker and bottom roll through the tail allow the MIDi great directional response. These attributes combined with a mid/low rail makes the MIDi a versatile board in all conditions and a board for any surfer.

To maximise speed we lowered the entry rocker of the board somewhat and combined that with a deep single/double concave throughout.
The deep single concave which runs from through the front foot and blends with a deep double concave just in front of, and through the fins creates lift and speed, the end result is a very fast and responsive board.
The MVP gets off the line extremely quick and will maintain momentum throughout the course of each wave. The other notable benefit is that the MVP is a great paddler due to less nose curve and a little more foam under your chest.

Performance model with a bit of forgiveness.
Suits intermediate to advanced surfers.
The Scimitar has the design aspect of a traditional performance short board with a slightly fuller outline. It features a fairly deep single concave for lift and speed through turns, while the lower rail offers more hold through big hacks and barrels.

An unfortunate fact about the East Coast of Aus is that as good as the waves can be through the peak season we get equal as many days of the year where it is a windy little grovel session. The good news is we have spent a considerable amount of time working on the M.C model to turn those nasty northerly grinds into your favourite little skatepark.
