Stay Safe People
Shark attacks and sightings are becoming a more common occurrence in the news and in talk out in the water. How do you make sure you’re not the next surfer to get the chomp? The Primo team has been looking into some ways to make sure that you’re not next.
There are now heaps of different ways of deterring the sharks ranging from $40 to $650. The most basic, cheapest and arguably most effective anti-shark method is a simple colour spray on the bottom of your stick. Any contrasting colours going across the board takes the attention away from you and onto something else in the water.
Surf Safe offers a small device that is installed into your board. The device emits an electric current that the sharks do not like to be around. It’s light weight and will run you $390 and we’ll install it for you for about $200 depending if it’s going in an existing board or in a brand new custom! Shark Shield offers the surf7, a mount for their electronic shark deterrent. This one leans towards the more expensive end of the scale at $650, but is easy to install and, apparently the best for your board.
Next week we are installing our first Surf Safe device for a customer into their existing board, and we’ll let you know how it fits into the board. Although we are willing to assist anyone regarding these products we obviously don’t guarantee they either work or not. If sharks are worrying you, come in and speak to the Primo team about what we can do to get you back and surfing worry-free.
