Want to clear your complexion, boost your mood, and cut your risk of cancer, heart disease, and other health hazards? No, the answer isn’t in a magic pill — it’s between your love sheets. That’s right — a little lovin’ can boost your overall health in many surprising ways.

Continue reading below to learn what diseases can be treated by making love to your partner.

It reduces depression and stress.

No need for chocolate: Some studies show that contact with semen during intercourse can act as an antidepressant for women. But, nevertheless, the deed has positive mental-health associations for everyone! In general, intercourse can make blood pressure less reactive to stress and reduce overall stress levels.

Improved heart health.

Just like any physical activity, intercourse is good for your heart. Several studies have found that your risk of dying from a heart disease event such as stroke or heart attack goes down as the frequency of your good orgasms increase over time.

It could make you look younger

A research showed that men and women who have an active love life look between five and seven years younger than their actual age. Sexual satisfaction is a major contributor to quality of life, ranking at least as high as spiritual or religious commitment.

Treats headaches

When you’re making love, your body releases oxytocin and the production of endorphins is increased as well, which significantly relaxes your muscles and relieves the pain.

Counts as Exercise

It won’t replace the treadmill, but it counts for something.

Intercourse uses about five calories per minute, four more calories than watching TV. It gives you a one-two punch: It bumps up your heart rate and uses various muscles. You may even want to clear your schedule to make time for it on a regular basis. Like with exercise, consistency helps maximize the benefits.

Did you know that making love every day is also very useful against the flu? Yes, and this means that before you take any medications or you try any natural remedy – make sure you try this “method” first! How this works – well, according to the experts, antibody production is discharged during pleasure, and because of this, it becomes a potent antiviral.

It’s a cliché that men pass out right after sex, but intercourse actually can help both men and women sleep off. Feeling relaxed and comfortable are big factors in hitting the big O, so it makes sense that there’s a tendency to want to snooze right after. During and after love making, the brain releases powerful hormones (including norepinephrine, serotonin, oxytocin, and vasopressin), which can trigger the urge to cuddle or just pass out.

Urinary incontinence

If you suffer from urinary incontinence, having more intimate relationships will strengthen the pelvis and will help you fight this condition.

It regulates periods

Some athletic (hetero) lovemaking once or twice a week can, on a very basic level, make it less likely that Aunt Flow will show up unexpected.

Lessens Pain

Before you reach for an aspirin, try for an orgasm. So even though you might think pain is a barrier to love making, consider this one benefit worth the time and effort: take a moment to really look at your lover.

You should still do all the other things that make your immune system happy, such as:

  • Eat right.
  • Stay active.
  • Get enough sleep.
  • Keep up with your vaccinations.
  • Use a condom if you don’t know both of your STD statuses.

  1. Hey, amazing post! I have noticed this tendency with sex and urinary incontinent. I was starting to leak when I was in my early teens, although I have immediately started to do something about it. I went to doctor and used some medications for some time – to be honest, it didn’t really help too much – well, maybe it did a little bit, but what I have started to apply later had much more impact on my incontinence. Well, so after medications I started to train kegels and losing my weight – yes, I was overweight by like 40 pounds – that’s quite a lot, not that fat, but still – overweight and it has immense extra pressure on my bladder. Once I have started to train kegels and lost weight, my bladder control has got better so much in just 1,5 years. I felt really happy about it, I basically didn’t wear diapers anymore unless in cases, where I knew I’ll have a trouble getting to toilet – my bladder control was back, I could feel and even hold it for a bit, but not for extended periods of time, so I rather used diapers in those cases – but it was rare to be honest, so I don’t care that much. Then I have finally found a girlfriend as I have lost weight, regained some confidence and I was feeling so much better about myself. I had of course plenty of sex with my girlfriend and just as you said I believe it had a great impact on improving my bladder control as well – apart from training kegels, which are also partially trained during sex you are training your mind – the sensation feeling, which has helped me in having a better control. Like I was having sex as a training partially as well – I was doing stop and start exercises with my girlfriend to the point I was able to last around 40 minutes of constant sex – well, it was probably too much – took me two years to get to this point, now I have lowered my exercise and 25-30 minutes top is enough. Ejaculating after 40 minutes of non-stop sex was definitely too much and we both just felt sore because of it, but definitely when I got to this point I felt a big improvement in my bladder control as well. If anybody has problems with motivating themselves, just think about how expensive those diapers really are and you will find your answer – my friend who’s fully incontinent is ordering from hexa & co in bulk, which have the best prices in US right now and even though it’s hitting his wallet pretty heavy anyway. Thanks god, I was able to react in time and I didn’t let my incontinence progress any further or I would have been sad, depressed and bankrupt
